The Process

1. List up to 10 things on your sheet of what you already know about butterflies before starting this webquest.

2. Work with your partner that you were assigned to and share your ideas about what you already know about butterflies.

3. Look at the webquest sites with your partner to see pictures of the butterfly’s life cycle and the different kinds of butterflies.

4. When clicking through the links, you and your partner will come across a link with a picture of a poster of the 4 stages of the Painted Lady Butterfly. You will each print out and color the poster. The poster tells the correct colors for each stage of this butterfly’s life cycle. The teacher or an older student will give you directions of what to do from there.

5. You will make art projects of the butterfly life cycle. The teacher will give you the materials and directions.

6. Discuss with your partner what you have learned. Write 4 complete sentences about what you learned and be ready to share them with the class. When you present your sentences to the class, you can also show your poster with the image of the butterfly lifecycle.
